Driver Group Game Picks for Bristol

Facebooktwitter

The MENCS head back to Bristol Motor Speedway this week for the Bass Pro Shop NRA Night Race. I do not plan to save allocations in Group A or Group C but it is a good race to try and save some allocations in Group B. This race is one of the most unpredictable races of the season so why not take a chance this week? Maybe the Fantasy Gods will repay us for our bad luck in the last few races.

GROUP A

Kyle Larson (6): Larson has the car to beat this week. He had the fastest speed on the 10-lap, 15-lap, 20-lap and 30-lap speed charts in final practice. He dominated qualifying and won the pole. Larson led the most laps 2 of the last 3 races at Bristol. He said it is his mission to get to Victory Lane at Bristol.

Group A Driver Rankings: 1) Kyle Larson 2) Kyle Busch 3) Kevin Harvick 4) Martin Truex Jr. 5) Denny Hamlin 6) Brad Keselowski 7) Jimmie Johnson 8) Joey Logano

GROUP B

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (6): The No. 17 team brought the best car they have in their inventory to win the race Saturday night. Stenhouse was very fast Friday. He posted the 4th-fastest speed in final practice with the 3rd-fastest 10-lap average speed and the 8th-fastest 15-lap speed. He really needs a win to make the playoffs.  I will take my chances with Stenhouse Saturday night.

Aric Almirola (7): Ryan Blaney and Erik Jones are better picks (in that order) so if you do not feel like gambling, use them. I am trying to save allocations so I will use Almirola this week. He finished 6th in the April race at Bristol. At the end of practice he said they hit on something and the cars drivers real good now. Almirola qualified 8th so they must have found some speed. I will give the No. 10 team a chance this week.

Group B Driver Rankings: 1) Ryan Blaney 2) Erik Jones 3) Chase Elliott 4) Ricky Stenhouse Jr. 5) Kurt Busch 6) Aric Almirola 7) Paul Menard 8) Clint Bowyer 9) Daniel Suarez 10) Ryan Newman

GROUP C

Darrell Wallace Jr. (7): There are no real good options in Group B. I wanted to use Bowman but the team could not get the car freed up in practice and Bowman qualified 22nd. His allocations are too important to use when he starts that deep in the field. Wallace was not much better, but he did start 20th and finished 16th at Bristol in the spring. I am hoping he can do the same this week.

Group C Driver Rankings: 1) William Byron 2) Alex Bowman 3) David Ragan 4) Darrell Wallace Jr. 5) Chris Buescher

Good luck this week!
