Driver Group Game Picks for Homestead

Facebooktwitter

This is the last race of the season and the last chance for us to improve our position in the Driver Group Game. I hope you have had some success using the picks this season. I am already working with Darren (Owner of the Driver Group Game website) to make the game even better next year. We plan to incorporate more stats into the site to give you more information for your picks. Be sure to check out the FantasyRacingTips.com site as well next year to help you manage your allocations and finish at the top of your league standings.

One of the changes this season for the Driver Group Game is that your league commissioner has the ability to change to number of allocations for each driver and can place drivers into any group they choose. My picks will be based on the default settings (8 allocations per driver and the original group settings).

Here are my picks for Homestead…

Driver Group Game A Picks

Martin Truex Jr. (4): Truex came 10 laps short last year of winning back-to-back MENCS championships last year. The No. 19 car will be in Victory Lane Sunday if the best driver from the 2019 season is going to win the championship. Truex won a series-high 7 races and led 1,268 laps. The No. 19 team has been money in the bank at Homestead since 2016. Truex won the race in 2017 and finished 2nd last year. He is almost a lock to finish in the top 5 again Sunday.

Group A Driver Rankings: 1) Kevin Harvick 2) Martin Truex Jr. 3) Kyle Busch 4) Kyle Larson 5) Joey Logano 6) Brad Keselowski 7) Chase Elliott

Driver Group Game B Picks

* I am out of allocations with Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Kurt Busch and Clint Bowyer.

Aric Almirola (1): Almirola started off the season with 6 straight top-10 finishes after the Daytona 500. The No. 10 team then went into the tank for most of the season and now they are heating up again. Almirola finished 2nd two weeks ago at Texas. He also led 62 laps in that race. Almirola qualified 10th, scored Stage points in both Stages and finished 9th at Homestead last year. I will take a chance with the No. 10 car Sunday.

Erik Jones (1): Jones has not had much success at Homestead but most of his problems were the results of penalties and not slow cars. We know Joe Gibbs Racing is going to give Jones a fast car. He just needs to execute in the race. Jones finished 7th and 10th in the last two races on the 1.5-mile tracks (Kansas and Texas). He also ranks 9th on the tracks with high tire wear (He has an 8th-place average finishing position at Atlanta, Auto Club, Chicagoland and Darlington). He is the best driver I have left so I will use Jones in my lineup this week.

Group B Driver Rankings: 1) Denny Hamlin 2) Ryan Blaney 3) Aric Almirola 4) Clint Bowyer 5) Erik Jones 6) Kurt Busch 7) William Byron 8) Alex Bowman  9) Daniel Suarez 10) Jimmie Johnson

Driver Group Game C Picks

* I am out of allocations with Chris Buescher, Matt DiBenedetto and Daniel Hemric.

Ty Dillon (2): Dillon has never finished inside the top 20 at Homestead so I am hoping the “There is a first time for everything” narrative holds true Sunday. Dillon has run well in the 3 playoffs races on the 1.5-mile tracks. He finished 16th at Las Vegas, 22nd at Kansas and 18th at Texas. I am hoping he can finish inside the top 20 again Sunday.

Group C Driver Rankings: 1) Chris Buescher 2) Matt DiBenedetto 3) Daniel Hemric 4) Ty Dillon 5) Bubba Wallace
