The Cup Series will compete at Dover International Speedway Sunday. Does anyone know where I can pick up a new TV on sale? I had Erik Jones at 70-1 odds last week and I ended up throwing the controller threw the screen when he gave up the lead in the last turn at Talladega. It would have been the second consecutive win for the “Best Bets” after Kyle Busch won at 16-1 odds on the dirt at Bristol. Hopefully I can find a new TV and have better luck at the Monster Mile Sunday.
DRAFTKINGS ODDS FOR DOVER
* The odds are from DraftKings Sportsbook. The odds could change between the time of this article and the time you place your bet.
** The first number is the amount of money based on the second number (the amount of the wager). So if you bet $1 on Kyle Larson, you will win $4.
Here are my best bets for the DuraMAX Drydene 400…
WILLIAM BYRON (9-1): I really like all of the Hendrick Motorsports cars this week and it looks like the oddsmakers like them too. Kyle Larson is the favorite to win, but should he be? The No. 5 car (Larson) and the No. 24 car (Byron) and built in the same garage (or building) at HMS. The cars come to the track with the same setup and if one is fast, so is the other. For that reason I will bet the cars with provide the better payout and the driver who has been the best for HMS this year. Byron won two races this year and he finished fourth in both races at Dover last year. He seems to be about four positions better in 2022 than he was in 2021. I will take my chances with Byron Sunday.
ALEX BOWMAN (10-1): I have one car from one of the buildings at Hendrick Motorsports so I will add a car from the other building at HMS to my betting portfolio this week. The No. 48 car (Bowman) and the No. 9 car (Chase Elliott) and built in the same building and usually have the same setup. Bowman is a bit better at “backing into Victory Lane” than Elliott so I will add him to my ticket. Bowman won this race last year and he won on a high-banked, Intermediate Track this year (Las Vegas). Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin will not be happy about it, but I will bet that Bowman wins again Sunday.
ROSS CHASTAIN (16-1): OK, enough with the nonsense of listing 10 drivers above Chastain on the odd-sheet. He has been good at every type of track this year and there are not 10 drivers who are running better than Chastain right now. I will keep betting Chastain as long as the odds-maker continues to give us a discount with the No. 1 car. Chastain finished 15th at Dover last year. That was in a Chip Ganassi Racing Chevy. His Trackhouse Racing Chevy has a lot more speed. Chastain finished 2nd at the Intermediate Track in Phoenix and 3rd at the Intermediate Track in Las Vegas. He seems to like this aero package, so I will take a chance with the Watermelon Man at 16-1 odds.
DANIEL SUAREZ (50-1): I have two cars from Hendrick Motorsports in my betting portfolio so why not add another car from Trackhouse Racing? Suarez has been nearly as good as his teammate (Ross Chastain) this year. The difference between the two is that Chastsain is good at closing out races and Suarez is good at blowing it in the final Stage. Sooner or later his luck is going to change. Suarez finished 9th at Dover last year. His No. 99 car has a lot more speed this year. He has led the most laps in the Cup Series in the last two races. I will take a shot with My Amigo at 50-1 odds.
LOG SHOT SPECIAL: AUSTIN CINDRIC (60-1): It is hard to believe that Team Penske only has one win this year and Cindric has it. Sooner or later Team Penske is going to hit on the setup and start winning some races. I would not be surprised if it happened this week. Cindric has never competed in a Cup Series race at Dover but he dominated the Xfinity Series at the Monster Mile. Cindric won his last race at the track and he finished four races in a row in the top-3. Cindric is good at qualifying. If Team Penske can hit on the setup which allows Cindric to start up front, he will have a very good chance to win. 60-1 odds seem a bit long for a driver with such good track history and racing for one of the top teams in the sport.
Good luck this week!
