NASCAR will head to the Pocono Hills this weekend for a full weekend of racing. There will be two Cup Series races to go along with an ARCA Series race, Truck Series race and an Xfinity Series race. The Cup Series is what I will be focusing on for betting purposes. Here are my “Best Bets” for the Pocono Organics 325…..
Denny Hamlin 8-1: Denny Hamlin should be the favorite but you get a little better odds with the No. 11 car at 8-1. Hamlin has a series-high five wins at Pocono and he won the last race at the track. Hamlin has also been the best driver for Joe Gibbs Racing this season and this is one of the team’s best tracks. Hamlin is my pick to win.
Ryan Blaney 10-1: Ryan Blaney won last week and now he will be looking to make it two in a row. He won his first Cup Series race at Pocono so you know he has to be excited to come back to the track. The reason I really like Blaney is that he starts on the front row, has the No. 1 pit stall, the fourth fastest pit crew and this is a short race. Track position and pit stops will be more important Saturday because of the 75-mile shorter race. Blaney has both and a fast car.
Chase Elliott 10-1: Chase Elliott has had the most consistent car this season. It does not matter what the aero package is or the shape of the track, the No. 9 car is always fast. Elliott leads the series in green flag speed and driver righting in races using the 550 HP aero package. His car will be fast… The question is how well will Elliott be able to navigate the “Tricky Triangle”? I like betting on the fastest cars and the stats show Elliott should be one of the fastest Saturday.
Matt DiBenedetto 100-1: Pocono has a history of surprise drivers finding their way to Victory Lane, especially when the race is shortened because of rain. Chris Buescher got his win that way and it could happen for Matt DiBenedetto. There is a 70% chance of rain Saturday so a team is likely going to gamble to try and steal a win. At 100-1 odds, I will put a few bucks on the Wood Brothers car Saturday.
