Best Bets for Road America

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Road America this weekend for the first time. Will we see the regular road course aces in Victory Lane on the 4th of July (Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr.) or will we have a driver come out of nowhere and capture the checkered flag the way Christopher Bell did at the Daytona Road Course? I think there are great odds on some drivers and I want to get some money wagered on them before practice Saturday. Once these drivers post fast laps in practice, their odds will drop.

DraftKings Odds for Jockey Made in America 250

* The odds could change between the time of this article and the time you place your bet

** The first number is the amount of money based on the second number (the amount of the wager). So if you bet $1 on Chase Elliott you will win $2.

Here are my “Best Bets” for the race at Pocono…

Kyle Larson (4-1): I do not bet on DraftKings since it is not allowed in my state. Instead I driver 20 minutes from Omaha, Nebraska to Iowa and place my bets at the Casino every Monday. I almost had a heart attack when I saw Kyle Larson listed at 6-1. I place $50 on him. His odds on DK are not as good, but still 4-1 are the highest they have been in a long time. I would get in on Larson before practice.

Joey Logano (12-1): Joey Logano is an absolute steal at 12-1 odds. His is the most consistent driver on the road courses this year. Logano finished 2nd at the Daytona Road Course, 3rd at COTA and 4th at Sonoma. He just needs to find a little extra speed or take a chance with pit strategy in order to find Victory Lane.

Alex Bowman (25-1): You can never have too many Hendrick Motorsports cars in your wagering portfolio. Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are the two best bets, but Alex Bowman is not far behind. He finished all of the road course races this year in the top-10. He also finished 2nd at the Charlotte Roval last year. Bowman is getting better on the road courses. This could be the week he figures it all out. 25-1 odds are good value on any Hendrick Motorsports driver.

AJ Allmendinger (25-1): I will take the best road course driver in the field at 25-1 odds. I know some will argue that Chase Elliott is the best, but let’s put AJ Allmendinger in that No. 9 car and see what he can do. I think Allmendinger would be unbeatable. He definitely has the talent to win. He just needs the car. Kaulig Racing has Richard Childress Racing building the car for Allmendinger and it will have a Hendrick/Childress engine. It also helps that Allmendinger has two practice sessions and an Xfinity Series race to prepare for the race Sunday.

Long-Shot Special: My Long-Shot Special this week is Christopher Bell (40-1). Christopher Bell is no stranger to Victory Lane at Road America. He won the Xfinity Series race at Road America in 2019. He also won the Cup Series race at the Daytona Road Course earlier this season. Joe Gibbs Racing always brings fast cars to the track. Bell is a great value at 40-1 odds.

Good luck this week!
