DFS Fantasy Football Week 17 Picks

Facebooktwitter

Week 17 is here and before I get into the picks, let me be the first to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! I’m excited to finish the NFL picks through the Super Bowl, start the DFS Golf picks next week and then start the Fantasy NASCAR season in February. It is going to be another good year at FantasyRacingTips.com. I hope you continue to let me be your DFS NFL Offensive Coordinator, your DFS Golf Caddy and your DFS NASCAR Crew Chief in 2024.

Here are my DFS picks for Week 17 of the NFL season…

DRAFTKINGS LIONS VS. COWBOYS SHOWDOWN PICKS

DRAFTKINGS NEW YEARS EVE CASH CONTEST PICKS

JARRET STIDHAM ($4,800): Stidham will start for the Broncos this week vs. the Chargers 30th ranked pass defense. Stidham comes with some risk, but the price is too good to pass up. Stidham started last year in Week 16 for the Raiders. He threw for 365 yards and three TDs vs. the 49ers. He also averages 46 yards rushing per game in his career. The rushing yards raises his floor and reduces the risk. I will take a chance with Stidham so I can load the rest of my lineup with players who have a lot of upside.

CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY ($9,600): McCaffrey is going to be the highest owned player on the slate, but it is going to be hard to fade him vs. the Commanders 31st ranked defense. McCaffrey is averaging 26.7 DK Points this year. He should go over 30 DK Points Sunday.

ZAMIRE WHITE ($5,100): White has filled in for an injured Josh Jacobs the last two weeks and he scored 17.5 DK Points in both games. Now White gets to face the Colts 28th-ranked run defense. White is almost a “free square” with Jacobs out of the lineup.

NINCO COLLINS ($7,200): The Texans had one of the hottest offenses for most of the season and they could begin to heat up again Sunday. C.J. Stroud is expected to be back and he should be throwing a lot to Collins. The best way to beat the Titans Defense is through the passing game. The Texans should be airing it and Collins should be scoring a lot of points for you lineup.

RASHEED RICE ($6,900): Rice is the No. 1 WR for the Chiefs and it is not even close. He is averaging 7.6 catches and 24.2 DK Points since Thanksgiving. The Chiefs have numerous injuries to their RBs, so they will likely have to air it out vs. the Bengals 28th ranked pass defense. Rice should have a big game vs. the Bengals.

CHRIS OLAVE ($6,800): Olave is a great play for only $6,800. He is averaging 20.36 DK Points in his last five games. The best way to beat the Buccaneers is by throwing the ball. The Bucs are dead last at stopping the pass. The Saints vs. Bucs should be a high-scoring game. This means Olave should score a lot of DK Points for your lineup.

GERALD EVERETT ($3,500): The rule in Fantasy Football this year has been to play your TE’s vs. the Broncos. They are by far the worst team at covering the TE. Last week Hunter Henry was out and that did not stop the Patriots from scoring a TD with Mike Gisiki vs. the Broncos. Now it is Everett’s turn to score. He is averaging 8 targets with Easton Stick at QB. Everett is a good “punt play” at the TE Position Sunday.

BRANDON JOHNSON ($3,300): Johnson stepped up as the top WR for the Broncos when Courtland Sutton left the lineup. Johnson played 70% of the snaps and turned it into 15.7 DK Points. Sutton is likely out Sunday, so I will take a chance with Johnson vs. the Chargers 30th ranked pass defense.

RAVENS DEFENSE/ST ($2,800): The Ravens have one of the best defenses in the NFL. They are priced down this week because of the match up. I know the Dolphins can score from anywhere on the field, but Miami has struggled vs. the top teams in the NFL. I will take a chance with the Ravens Defense/ST Sunday.

* If JOSH JACOBS does play, I will switch ZAMIR WHITE to KYREN WILLIAMS, switch NICO COLLINS to CEDRICK WILSON and switch the PATRIOTS DEFENSE/ST to the BRONCOS DEFENSE/ST.

DRAFTKINGS NEW YEARS EVE TOURNAMENT CONTEST PICKS

TOURNAMENT STACK: The 49ers will be looking to bounce back after getting beat by Baltimore on Christmas night. They have an implied total of 32 Points, which is the most this season. I will stack BROCK PURDY + CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY + BRANDON AIYUK vs. the Commanders 31st ranked defense. I will run the stack back with CURTIS SAMUEL since he has been the Commander’s most consistent WR over the last two months. The Commanders will have to throw it a lot, so Samuel should score well in garbage time.

RB + DEFENSE STACK: I will stack EZEKIEL ELLIOTT + PATRIOTS DEFENSE/ST Sunday. Elliott is going to be the busiest player on the field in this game. He is going to be running the ball, catching the ball and scoring a lot of DK Points…. I know the Bills will likely score a lot of points, but Josh Allen will likely throw a few INTs too. I just hope the Patriots can take one of those INTs back for a TD Sunday.

RASHEED RICE ($6,900): I wanted a piece of the Rams Offense in this lineup, but I do not think Cooper Kupp or Puka Nacua is worth $1K more than Rice this week. I will take the discount with Rice in a game where the Chiefs will have to throw the ball a lot since they only have one healthy RB.

GERALD EVERETT ($3,500): Everett is just too cheap to pass up Sunday. He has had at least 8 targets in every game with Easton Stick at QB. Now he gets his best match up of the season. Everett is a great “punt play” at the TE Position Sunday.

BRANDON JOHNSON ($3,300): Johnson could easily lay an egg and not score any points Sunday, but the match up and the opportunity are too good to pass up. I will play the Broncos young WR and hope he can score like he did last week (15.7 DK Points).

DRAFTKINGS PACKERS VS. VIKINGS SHOWDOWN CONTEST PICKS

FANDUEL CONTESTS

Scoring for FanDuel is similar to DraftKings but there are some differences you need to know. FanDuel DOES NOT award 3 bonus points for 300-yard passers or 100-yards rushing / receiving. The game also awards ½ point per reception compared to 1 point on DraftKings. We need to focus more on players who can score touchdowns on FanDuel and less on players who catch a lot of passes. The scoring is not as tight as it is on Daftkings so it is easier to pay up at the QB and TE position. My lineups for the two sites will be similar but I will have to make some changes based on the scoring and prices for the players.

NFL BEST BETS FOR WEEK 17

The “Best Bets” went 5-2 over Christmas weekend. The picks are now 9-3 over the last two weeks. I will try my best to keep the hot streak going in Week 17.

TAKE THE DETROIT LIONS VS. DALLAS COWBOYS OVER 51.5 POINTS

The popular pick this week will be the Cowboys at home against a Detroit Lions team that has a hangover from celebrating their first divisional championship in 30 years. I do not trust either team to cover the point spread. I do trust their offenses though. Dallas passes the ball well and Detroit is one of the worst teams at covering the pass. The Lions run the ball well and Dallas ranks 27th vs. the run. There should be a lot of scoring Saturday night, so I will be the over in this game.

TAKE THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS -3.5 OVER THE LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

The Raiders just won the Super Bowl… Well, at least they acted like it. The Raiders went to Aarowhead and beat the Chiefs. Their coach was crying after the game and the team was smoking cigars and drinking Champaign (act like you have been there before). The Raiders did nothing on offense and the Chiefs made enough mistakes to give the Raiders the game. Adain O’Connell had the worst QB ranking in the last 7 years (according to Pro Football Focus) in that game. I think the Raiders get a wake up call as Jonathan Taylor runs all over Antonio Pierce’s defense. I will take the Colts and give the points Sunday.

TAKE THE LOS ANGELES RAMS VS. NEW YORK GIANTS OVER 43 POINTS

The Rams are playing at a high level. They should have no problems scoring against the Giants Defense. I would not be surprised if the Rams scored 35 Points Sunday and that means the Giants would only need 8 points for this game to go over the point total. The switch to Tyrod Taylor at QB is good news for Giants fans. He is a veteran QB who will be able to move the ball on the Rams’ Defense. This is one of the easiest bets of the week.

TAKE THE GREEN BAY PACKERS VS. MINNESOTA VIKINGS OVER 43.5 POINTS

The last nine games that had two divisional teams playing each other with their playoff lives on the line have gone over the point total. That is what we have this week on Sunday Night Football. Both teams will play desperate. Both teams will play faster, with more passes and go for it more often on fourth down. This all leads to more points. I will take the Over in the last game of 2023. (This game had an Over/Under of 47 Points earlier in the week, but it came down after the Vikings announced a change at the QB Position. I do not think it should have come down to 43.5 Points)

(Season Record: 31-23)

Good Luck This Week!
