DFS MNF Showdown Picks Week 1 – Fantasy Racing Tips

The NFL will stay at MetLife Stadium for a Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets. The NFL decided to have the Sunday Night Football game and the Monday Night Football games in New York (actually it is New Jersey), because they want to honor 9-11 and Patriot Day. The game last night was a blowout. I doubt that will happen tonight. The Bills are a two-point favorite and the Over/Under is 45.5 Points.

Here are my picks for the Monday Night Football Showdown slate…

BUFFALO BILLS PLAYERS

JOSH ALLEN is the highest-scoring player on the slate. He averages 26.6 DK Points per Contest and he averaged 23.59 DK Points his two games vs. the Jets last year. I like Allen for the Captain Position more in Cash Contest then I do in Tournament Contests.

STEFON DIGGS is the second highest-scoring player on the slate. He averaged 20.4 DK Points per Contest last year but he was shut down by Sauce Gardner (Diggs only averaged 10.5 DK Points against the Jets last year). His ownership will be down because of the match up. I am fading him too, but I will have a few shares of Diggs tonight.

JAMES COOK will be a decent value pick tonight. The Bills are going to “try” to run the ball to take some heat off of Josh Allen. I am not sure it will work vs. the Jets Defense. I like Cook more because of what he will do in the passing game. I expect a lot of dump off passes to Cook tonight.

DALTON KINCADE is the new toy the Bills have to play with. I expect Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis to get shut down by Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed. That means the Bills will attack the middle of the field. Kincade will line up in the slot and should be targeted a lot tonight.

TYLER BASS is a good play, especially in Cash Contests. There is a good chance the Bills will move the ball and get stopped in the red zone. That means a lot of FGs for Bass.

DEONTE HARTY is my favorite “punt play” on the slate. Harty has been named the Bills No. 3 WR and will be playing from the slot. I like Harty for the same reasons I like Kincade. The middle of the field is where the open receivers should be.

NEW YORK JETS PLAYERS

AARON RODGERS will be making his N.Y. Jets debute. I have heard a lot of people saying that Rodgers will struggle tonight. I do not think so. He has his offense from Green Bay, so it is not like Rodgers is learning a new offense. I like paring Rodgers with Josh Allen in Cash Contests and I will have him in the Captain Position based on his price in a few Tournament Contests.

GARRETT WILSON will be my highest owned player in the Captain Position in Tournament Contests. Wilson averaged 16 DK Points vs. the Bills last year. That was with garbage at QB throwing him the ball. Now he has Aaron Rodgers. I expect Wilson to go off tonight.

DALVIN COOK was brought to the Jets to carry the load early in the season until Breece Hall is healthy. I will be fading Hall and I will have some shares of Cook. His price is a little more expensive than I would like, but I still think Cook can return some value tonight.

ALLEN LAZARD will be one of my highest played players tonight. The Bills are going to do their best to double-cover Garrett Wilson. That will leave Lazard in one-on-one coverage with Christian Benford. Lazard has chemistry with Aaron Rodgers. I expect the two to hook up a lot tonight.

TYLER CONKLIN is a good value play. The Jets coach came out during the preseason and said he would not be surprised if Conklin is the No. 2 receiver on the team. Aaron Rodgers loves to throw it to his TEs. Conklin is my sleeper pick to score a TD tonight.

NEW YORK JETS DEFENSE/ST could be a sneaky good play if this s a low scoring game. The Dallas Defense blew up the slate last night. Could the Jets do the same? It is going to be tough to completely stop Josh Allen, but the Jets have the talent on defense to make some plays. I will use the Jets Defense/ST in some Tournament Contests.

RANDALL COBB /MECOLE HARDMAN JR. / C.J. UZOMHAH are three “punt plays” for the Jets. I will not have a lot of ownership of these players, but I will sprinkle them into some lineups.
