DFS NASCAR Picks for Talladega

Facebooktwitter

The Round of 12 in the Cup Series Playoffs is always predicted to be the wildest round. Most people expected the races at Talladega and the Charlotte Roval to have the most chaos, but the drivers are going to have their work cut out for them to beat the madness they had in “Tire-Gate at Texas.” The theme of the 2022 season has been to expect the unexpected, so the chaos is sure to continue at Talladega.

QUALIFYING AT TALLADEGA

NASCAR no longer has a practice session for the races at the Superspeedways. The drivers make one qualifying lap and then lineup up to race. Qualifying is important for the races on the superspeedways because we want to target the drivers who start in the back with the best chance to score place differential points.

DFS STRATEGY FOR TALLADEGA

The race at Talladega is 188 laps (500 miles) in length. That means there will be 47 bonus points for leading laps and 84.6 points available for fastest laps in DraftKings contests. The trend at Talladega is for six drivers to lead over 10 laps in this race, so the laps led get spread throughout the field. The drivers in the back score most of the fastest laps and that takes away from the dominators value too. We must target the drivers who have the best chance to score place differential points this week.

All of the drivers who start outside the top-20 are in play, but the trend in the last two races at Talladega is for the drivers who start between 12th -19th to finish in the top-10. These drivers typically are not very popular so I will be targeting some of these drivers when they race.

Also, do not be afraid to leave a lot of the salary on the table this week. Our goal is to score the most points, not to spend the most salary. The average price of the winning lineup in the last three races at Talladega is $49,300.

DRAFTKINGS MODEL (PREDICTIONS BASED ON STATS)

Finish = Finishing Points                PD = Position Differential              Fastest = Fastest Laps Led = Laps Led

* The number in front of the driver is his projected finishing position based on stats.

** The DFS Models are usually not as accurate on the Superspeedways because of he randomness of the race.
