It is hard to believe that the 2022 – 2023 PGA Season is already heading into its ninth tournament. This season is already going by quickly and soon the fall segment will be complete. The PGA Tour will head to Houston, Texas this week for the Cadence Bank Houston Open. The field is a lot stronger than what we had last week in Bermuda. Some of the golfers who will be teeing it up this week include Scottie Scheffler, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama and young golfers Taylor Montgomery, Aaron Wise and Seehith Thegala. It should be a fun tournament for DFS contests.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Memorial Park will be the host course this week. It is par-72 which plays 7,432 yards in length. What make this course unique are the five par-3s and the five par-5s. We will need to focus on golfers who score well on the par-3s and par-5s since we have more of them this week. (Matthew NeSmith ranks No. 1 in par-3 scoring and Aaron Wise ranks No. 1 in par-5Scoring)
The key to success at the Houston Open since the tournament was moved from the Golf Club at Houston to Memorial Park has been for the golfers to hit greens in regulation and putting. Jason Kokrak won last year and he ranked top-three in both categories and Carlos Ortiz won in 2020 and he ranked top-five in both categories too. I plan to use a lot of golfers who enter the tournament who rank high in greens in regulation and putting on Bermuda greens.

HOUSTON STRATEGY
It is going to be tough to fade Scottie Scheffle or Sam Burnsr this week. I plan to play Scheffler or Buns with five values plays in my Cash and Single-Entry Tournaments. The strategy for Multi-Entry Tournament Contests will consist of a more balanced approach using many of the young golfers who have got off to a hot start to the 2022-2023 season. There is a lot of value in this slate and I plan to take advantage of it.
The golfers who have dominated this tournament since it was moved for the Houston Golf Club to Memorial Park include Dustin Johnson, Cam Smith, Brooks Koepka, Matthew Wolff, Cameron Tringale and Talor Gooch. Unless there is the biggest breaking news in the history of golf tomorrow, these golfers will not be teeing it up this week (They are all on the LIV Golf Tour). This means we will have a lot of new names on the leaderboard and some experts may have a hard time figuring out who they will be. Hopefully my research will pay off for this tournament.
