DFS PGA Picks for RSM Classic

Facebooktwitter

The PGA Tour will travel to St. Simmons Island, Georgia for the RSM Classic. This is the last sanctioned event on the fall segment of the tour and it will be my last DFS article until the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January. Most of the top golfers are going to take some time off during the holidays so they can be ready to go when the PGA Tour heats up in January. The only golfer ranked in the top-20 in the World Golf Rankings in the field this week is Tony Finau. This tournament is wide open and it is going to be one of the tougher tournaments to cash your DFS lineups. Hopefully the research will pay off for the RSM Classic.

COURSE BREAKDOWN

The RSM Classic has been played on the Plantation Course at Sea Island Resort since 2010, but this year the tournament will be played the Plantation and the Seaside Course for the first two days. Then the Seaside Course will be used on Saturday and Sunday. The Seaside Course plays 7,055 yards and is a par 70. It is a Thomas Fazio designed course with a lot of water. Accuracy off the tee is going to be important this week. The grass is Bermuda so we will also want golfers who are gut at putting on the Bermuda greens.

If you are playing Single Day Showdown Contest, make sure you select your golfers from the Plantation Course. It is easier than the Seaside Course.

  • Tony Finua withdrew Tuesday so make sure he is not in your lineu;s.

RSM CLASSIC STRATEGY

The field will consist of 156 golfers, with the top 65 and ties making the cut (roughly 42% will play the weekend). It will be important to get 6/6 golfers through the cut for out Tournament Lineups but we may be able to win our Cash Contests with only 5/6 making the cut.

This will be a good week to use a “balanced lineup” instead of paying up for the highest-priced golfers and filling in the rest of the lineup with scrubs. The mid-to-lower $9K range and the $8K price range are pretty strong this week. I will be building the majority of my lineups with golfers from these price ranges.

DRAFTKINGS CASH CONTEST LINEUP

* The golfers in this lineup have made the cut in 35 of their 37 tournaments this year. They all should have a good chance to make the cut this week and score well in your DraftKings Contest.

BEST BETS RSM CLASSIC

The Fall Segment of the PGA Tour is supposed to be the time when the long-shots hold up the trophy on Sunday. That has not been the case in the 2022-2023 season. 7 of the 8 winners have had odds of 35-1 or better and 4 of the 7 have had odds of 20-1 or better. I expect this trend to continue throughout the season.

Brain Harmon (18-1)

Tom Hoge (20-1)

Keith Mitchell (30-1)

Matthew NeSmith (30-1)

Scott Stallings (50-1)

Good Luck This Week!!!!
