DFS Picks for O’Reilly Series Race at Bristol

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR O’Reilly Series will join the Cup Series and the Truck Series at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. This will be the third race in the playoffs for the O’Reilly Series. Most people expected Justin Allgaier to run away with the championship this year, but it has been a rough start for the No. 7 team. Will this be the race when Allgaier gets back to Victory Lane, or will Carson Kvapil and Sheldon Creed continue to be the best drivers in the playoffs? It should be fun to see how it all plays out tonight. The Food City 300 can be seen Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET on CW Channel.

 FANTASY STATS FOR BRISTOL

The best way to handicap the Food City 300 is to look at what happened at Bristol in April. I will use the stats from the last three races at Bristol and the stats from the race at Dover Motor Speedway to help predict which drivers will run up front Friday night.

Here are the stats from the last three races at Bristol Motor Speedway and the race at Dover Motor Speedway this year, sorted by DraftKings Points….

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The O’Reilly Series had 50-minutes to dial in their cars for Friday night’s race. Bristol Motor Speedway is a half-mile, high-banked, short track, so most of the teams were able to make a long run in practice. The same scenerio that played out with the Truck Series race yesterday, happened to the O’Reilly Series today. The teams had a full practice and then qualifying was canceled bacause of the weather. For that reason, the drivers will start the race “per the rulle book.” That puts some good drivers deep in the field, but can they stay on the lead lap? I will take a chance with a few of these drivers.

STRATEGY FOR BRISTOL

The race tonight is scheduled for 300 laps (160 Miles). That means there are 75 points available for leading laps and 135 points available for fastest laps (210 dominator points). Kyle Larson has stunk up the last two spring races at Bristol Motor Speedway, but the dominator points are spread out more in the playoff races, where the Cup Series regulars are not allowed to compete. The trend in the September races at Bristol is for the race to have three dominators. Two drivers lead roughly 100 laps each and another driver leads roughly 50 laps. We need to find these three drivers for our lineups tonight, even if it means building “stars and scrubs” lineups for our contest.
