DFS Picks for O’Reilly Series Race at Charlotte

Facebooktwitter

I dedicate this article to the driver with the most wins in O’Reilly Series history, Kyle Busch. RIP Rowdy.

The O’Reilly Series joins the Cup Series and Truck Series for a home race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will be the fourth race for the Xfinity Series on a 1.5-mile, intermediate track (Las Vegas, Kansas and Texas were the other three tracks). The field is typically stacked with one driver from Hendrick Motorsports and one driver from Joe Gibbs Racing’s the Cup Series teams, but that is not the case this year. William Byron and Chase Elliott won the last two O’Reilly Series races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We have a good chance to get an O’Reilly Series regular in Victory Lane today. The Charbroil 300 can be seen Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on CW Channel.

FANTASY STATS FOR CHARLOTTE

The O’Reilly Series raced on the 1.5-mile tracks at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kansas Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.  All three tracks are very similar in size and shape to Charlotte Motor Speedway. I will be using the stats from those three races and the last three races on the intermediate track at Charlotte Motor Speedway to handicap the Charbroil 300 today.

Here are the stats from the three races on the intermediate tracks this year and the last three races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, sorted by DraftKings Points…

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The O’Reilly Series practice and qualifying has been rained out. The starting lineup is set “per the rule book.” Justin Allgaier is on the pole for the race.

STRATEGY FOR CHARLOTTE

The race Saturday is scheduled for 200 laps (300 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points). Justin Allgaier led 48 laps and scored 35 fastest laps (27.75 dominator points) in Las Vegas and he led 54 laps and scored 41 fastest laps (31.95 dominator points) at Texas. The other dominator in those races was Kyle Larson and he is not in the field this week. “Little Gator” is the safest pick to be a dominator in the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

WINNING LINEUPS AT CHARLOTTE (2024-2025)

It is hard to learn anything from the previous two winning lineups at Charlotte Motor Speedway because those two races had Cup Series drivers from Hendrick Motorsports in really fast cars. The race today is more even. I still expect we will need two dominators in our lineup and spending most of the $50K salary cap will likely be the best strategy.
