DFS Picks for O’Reilly Series Race at Talladega

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will travel to Talladega this weekend for another Superspeedway race. This will be the third Superspeedway race for the Xfinity Series this year (Daytona and Atlanta were the other two). Austin Hill won at Daytona and Sheldon Creed won at Atlanta. Richard Childress Racing has won 3 of the last four races at Talladega. Austin Hill won both races last year and Jesse Love won in 2024. Can anyone beat the RCR drivers on a drafting track? It should be fun to see how it all plays out this weekend. The Ag-Pro 300 can be seen Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on CW Channel.

FANTASY STATS FOR TALLADEGA

Predicting the drivers who will finish up front at Talladega is impossible because there are so many wrecks that take out good drivers at this track. We can look at the drivers who are better than the others at running up front and avoiding the wrecks. I looked at the driver’s stats from the races at Talladega, Daytona and Atlanta in 2025 and 2026 to help handicap the Ag-Pro 300. The drivers with the best stats should be the safest picks for our DFS lineups.

Here is the driver’s Average DraftKings Points in the last eight races on the Superspeedway tracks in the O’Reilly Series…

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

NASCAR no longer has practice at the Superspeedway tracks. The drivers lined up for qualifying Friday evening and then they will race Saturday afternoon. It would have been nice to see the teams get at least 10 minutes to shake down their cars to see if everything is working properly, but NASCAR thinks that is too risky. Hopefully the drivers we select have their cars ready to go when the green flag is waived in the Ag-Pro 300.

DRIVER RANKINGS FOR TALLADEGA

STRATEGY FOR TALLADEGA

My advice for the Superspeedway tracks is to select the drivers who start in the back with the best chance to score place differential points. There are only 113 laps in the race Saturday and the laps led are typically spread throughout the field. One driver usually leads roughly 28 laps (7 dominator points). The fastest laps are scored by the drivers running deeper in the field because they get an assist from the draft. It is a good idea to select the drivers who start outside the top-15, with the best stats on the Superspeedways. They have the best chance to score the most DFS Points Saturday.

We cannot ignore Jesse Love and Austin Hill. It is risky to use drivers who start up front, but Richard Childress Racing has dominated the Superspeedway races. Hill was in both winning lineups last year and Love was in one of the two.

WINNING LINEUPS AT TALLADEGA (2024-2025)

The O’Reilly Series is not like the Cup Series on the Superspeedways. We often see one driver lead 70% of the laps (Austin Hill or Jesse Love) and that driver typically finishes up front too. It is just easier for the O’Reilly Series drivers who know how to manipulate the air to stay up front. Both lineups last year had two drivers who started in the top 10. That almost never happens in the Cup Series. The rest of the drivers start outside the top-20. Both lineups spent nearly the entire $50,000 salary cap.
