DFS Picks for Truck Series Race at Dover

Facebooktwitter

The Craftsman Truck Series will join the Cup Series and O’Reilly Series at Dover Motor Speedway this weekend. The Cup Series will compete in their All-Star Race, while the Truck Series will have a points paying race. The Truck Series has not competed at Dover Motor Speedway since 2020, so it should be fun to see these young drivers try to figure out how to conquer “The Monster Mile.” The ECOSAVE 200 can be seen Friday at 5 p.m. ET on FS1.

FANTASY STATS FOR DOVER

I typically use the stats from the track to help handicap the race. That is not an option this weekend. There are a handful of drivers who have some experience at Dover, but most of the field is racing a truck for the first time at The Monster Mile. The Truck Series did race at Darlington and Bristol earlier this year. Both of these tracks are high-banked, high-speed tracks and Bristol has a concrete surface similar to Dover. I will use the stats from these two races to help handicap the ECOSAVE 200 this evening.

Here are the stats from the road course races at Darlington and Bristol, sorted by DraftKings Points….

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING

The Truck Series had a 50 minute practice session to dial in their trucks for this evening’s race and then the teams lined up for single-lap qualifying. Most of the teams were able to make a long run and then bring their truck in for some adjustments. I will be relying on the practice speeds and the drivers qualifying positions for the race this evening, since we have little track history to work with at Dover.

DFS STRATEGY FOR DOVER

The race today is scheduled for 200 laps (200 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points available in the race). That is a lot of dominator points for a Truck Series race and we need to score as many of these points as possible. I expect the race at Dover to have two main dominators. I will pay up for the two drivers I think can lead the most laps. Our lineups should have a good chance of winning our contests if we hit on these two drivers and pair them with four drivers who can score some place differential points and finish in the top-10.
