The Xfinity Series will travel to Kansas Speedway this weekend to take the green flag in their playoffs. It is hard to believe that it is the end of September and the Xfinity Series is just now starting their run for a championship. The field of 12 drivers is set and now the Xfinity Series will race every weekend until the championship race at Phoenix. It should be fun to see who can be the first driver to advance to the Round of 8, or maybe a non-playoff driver like Aric Almiorla or Corey Heim will steal the show. The Kansas Lottery 300 can be seen Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on CW Channel.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING AT KANSAS
The Xfinity Series had a short practice session this morning to shake down their cars for the race today. Kansas is a 1.5-mile intermediate track. It only takes 31 seconds to make a lap at Kansas so most of the teams were only able to make short-runs in practice. We can still learn a lot by looking at the single-lap speed to see which drivers should finish up front in tonight’s race.
Here are the lap times from the practice Saturday at the Kansas Speedway…

STATS TO USE FOR KANSAS
The Cup Series and Trucks Series competed at Kansas Speedway in May, while the Xfinity Series took the weekend off. We can still look at the data from the previous races at Kansas to handicap today’s race. The Xfinity Series competed on three intermediate tracks this year (Las Vegas, Texas and Charlotte). I will be combining that data with the last two races at Kansas Speedway for my picks today.

STRATEGY FOR KANSAS
The race today is scheduled for 200 laps. That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points). The last two races at Kansas have been two-dominator races. The main dominator leads 140 laps and one scores roughly 50 fastest laps (57.5 dominator points). The second dominator leads 50 laps and one scores roughly 30 fastest laps (30.5 dominator points). We are going to need these two dominators in our lineup if the race plays out like it has in the past. John H. Nemechek led 154 of the 200 laps at Kansas last year. Aric Almirola will be driving that car today. Justin Allgaier has been one of the top-two dominators in the last two races at Kansas. We should see the No. 7 car in front of the pack at Kansas Speedway.
The drivers with the best chance to score dominator points today includes Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, Aric Almirola and Brandon Jones
The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points AJ Allmendinger, Justin Allgaier, Sheldon Creed, Daniel Dye, Kyle Weatherman Brennan Poole, and Lyland Honeyman
