The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at the Phoenix Raceway this weekend. This track has been one of the more difficult short tracks to predict for the Xfinity Series races. There have been six different winners in the last six races at Phoenix. Those drivers include Ty Gibbs, Noah Gragson, Riley Herbst, Cole Custer, Sammy Smith and Chandler Smith. The only driver from this list in the field Saturday is Sammy Smith. There is a good chance that we will get another new winner at Phoenix this weekend. The GOVX 200 can be seen Saturday at 5 p.m. ET on the CW Channel.
PRACTICE / QUALIFYING
The Xfinity Series did not have extra practice time like the Cup Series had this weekend. The Xfinity Series teams were broken up into two groups. Each group had 25-minutes to dial in their cars for this evening’s race. Some drivers were able to make a long run, but most teams spent the practice session working on their setups to get it right for the race. The cars then had single-lap qualifying and were impounded for the race.

STRATEGY FOR PHOENIX
The Xfinity Series race is scheduled for 200 laps (200 miles). That means there are 50 points available for leading laps and 90 points available for fastest laps (140 dominator points). The trend at Phoenix is for the Xfinity Series to be a three dominator race. The main dominator leads roughly 86 laps and scores 55 fastest laps (46.25 dominator points). The second dominator leads roughly 60 laps and scores 11 fastest laps (19.95 dominator points). The third dominator leads roughly 50 laps and scores 40 fastest laps (30.5 dominator points). It will be important to pay up for the drivers who we think will lead the most laps this evening. The three drivers at the bottom of out lineups will not have to do much if we are able to score the 97 dominator points with the three drivers at the top of our lineup.

The best way to predict the future is it analyzes the past. Some of the drivers this week will be racing in the Xfinity Series for the first time at Phoenix Raceway. It still does not hurt to look at the drivers who have experience at this track.
