DFS Xfinity Series Picks for Richmond

Facebooktwitter

The Xfinity Series will join the Cup Series at Richmond Raceway this week. The Xfinity Series just raced at a short, flat track in Phoenix earlier this month. That race was dominated by Chandler Smith (he led 88 laps in the race), but Justin Allgaier had the race won when his tire exploded in the final laps. It will be fun to see how the race shakes out this week. The Toyota Care 250 can be seen Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1.

PRACTICE AND QUALIFYING AT RICHMOND

The Xfinity Series had their normal schedule this week. The teams had a 20-minute practice session to shake down their cars for Saturday’s race. Richmond is a .75-mile flat track. It only takes 22.5 seconds to turn a lap at Richmond, so some of the teams were able to make a long run in practice. We can use the single-lap and 10-lap average speed charts to figure out which drivers will be best for our DraftKings lineups Saturday.

Here are the speeds from Saturday’s practice at Richmond…

DRAFTKINGS POINTS AT RICHMOND AND PHOENIX

Richmond is not a track that has been dominated by one team. Chandler Smith won the race at Richmond while driving for Kaulig Racing. Ty Gibbs won at Richmond in 2022 in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota and Noah Gragson won at Richmond in a Chevy for Junior Motorsports in 2021. The best way to handicap this race is too look at the data from the last two races at Richmond and add in the data from the race at Phoenix earlier this month. That should give us an idea of which drivers will score well in our DraftKings lineups Saturday.

Here are the stats from the last two races at Richmond and the race this year at Phoenix sorted by DraftKings Points…

STRATEGY FOR RICHMOND

The Xfinity Series race at Richmond is scheduled for 250 laps. That means there are 62.5 points available for leading laps and 112.5 points available for fastest laps (175 dominator points). The trend in the three races at Richmond is for one driver to lead 80 laps and score 30 fastest laps (33.5 dominator points). Another driver leads 66 laps and scores 26 fastest laps (28.2 dominator points). A third driver leads 40 laps and scores 24 fastest laps (20.8 dominator points). We MUST have at least two of these dominators in our lineup and most likely all three if we want a good payday. I plan to pay up for the top dominator in Saturday’s race.

The drivers with the best chance to score dominator points today includes Cole Custer, Justin Allgaier, Chandler Smith, Aric Almirola and Brandon Jones

The drivers with the best chance to score place differential points include Aric Almirola, Austin Hill, Sheldon Creed, Bubba Pollard, Taylor Gray, Matt DiBenedetto, Josh Williams and Kyle Sieg
