DraftKings Final Picks for Bristol

Facebooktwitter

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is in Bristol, Tennessee this week for the Food City 500. The race can be seen Sunday at 2 pm ET on Fox. If you have not signed up for DraftKings, there is no better time than now. Sign up here (DraftKings) and let me help you win some money this season.

It will take a high score this week to win your DraftKings contest. Since there are 500 laps in the race there are 375 bonus points available for leading laps and fastest laps in the race. Fantasy players MUST capture as many of these points as possible to score well in DraftKings.

Usually I try to select a combination of dominator drivers (drivers who lead the most laps and score the most fastest laps in the race) and movers (drivers who improve their position in the race and score position differential points). Track position is very important at Bristol and so are the bonus points for leading laps so I will be focusing on the possible dominator drivers this week.

Tournament Contest Strategy

You can pick two highly owned dominators this week but the rest of your lineup needs to be contrarian. If you try to fade the two drivers who lead the most laps simply because you think they will be highly owned, your team could lose out on 100s of points for leading laps and fastest laps.

It will be risky to fade Kyle Larson or Kyle Busch. They seem to have the best cars this week. I plan to have at least one of these drivers in all lineups this week.

The drivers I think will be highly owned are the two drivers listed above, Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Matt Dibenedetto. Harvick and Kenseth are good Cash Tournament plays but I will be fading them in most of my Tournament Contest. Stenhouse wrecked his car in practice and the team tried to fix it. The No. 17 looked horrible in practice, so I will be fading him as well. Dibenedetto has great stats at Bristol so many people may use him this week. I will not be one of them. Dibenedetto said his car was nowhere near as fast as it was last year.

My pivot from Harvick and Kenseth is Jimmie Johnson and Chase Elliott. Both of these Hendrick Motorsports cars are very fast this week.

My pivot from Wrecky Stenhouse Jr. is Kasey Kahne. The No. 5 car was 3rd fastest in Happy hour Practice and he had the fastest 10-lap average speed.

My pivot from Matt Dibenedetto is Landon Cassill. Cassill was 13th fastest in Happy Hour Practice and he has had success at Bristol before.

Cash Contest Strategy

There is not much different this week in Tournament Contest Strategy and Cash Contest Strategy. Usually you need to eliminate risk in Cash Contest but that is very difficult to do at Bristol. One driver can take out half the field with a spinout. Fantasy teams need to select at least two dominators and four drivers who can finish in the top 15 for their Cash Contests this week.
