DraftKings Final Picks for Kansas

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is in Kansas City, Kansas this week for the Go Bowling 400. The race can be seen Saturday night at 7:30 pm ET on Fox Sports 1. If you have not signed up for DraftKings, there is no better time than now. Sign up here (DraftKings) and let me help you win some money this season.

Once again NASCAR and the teams played their game of cat and mouse in the inspection line and 12 teams failed to make a qualifying lap. The drivers who will start from the back include: Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, Erik Jones, Dale Earnhardt Jr., David Ragan, Michael McDowell, Landon Cassill and your normal scrub drivers. These drivers will start the race on fresh tires and should be the highest owned drivers in the field this week.

It is going to be incredibaly difficult to be contrarian this week with so many good drivers starting in the rear of the field. One way to separate you from the pack is to try and nail the dominator drivers this week.

Kansas Speedway was repaved in 2012 and the new surface really affected the dominators (drivers who lead the most laps and post the fastest laps in the race). Passing for the lead has been rare in the last six races at Kansas. One driver has led at least 95 laps and it would have been hard to win your DraftKings contest without the driver in your lineup. The race Saturday night is likely to have one driver lead 100 laps. Here are the drivers who dominated the last six races at Kansas…

Matt Kenseth (Led 116 laps in October 2016, Started on the Pole)

Martin Truex Jr. (Led 172 in May 2016, Started on the Pole)

Matt Kenseth (Led 153 laps in October 2015, Started 11th)

Martin Truex Jr. (Led 95 laps in May 2015, Started 4th)

Joey Logano (Led 122 laps in Oct 2014, Started 4th)

Kevin Harvick (Led 119 Laps in May 2014, Started on the Pole)

* 5 of the 6 drivers started in the first two rows.

There are 267 laps in the race Saturday night. That means there are 200.25 bonus points available for leading laps and fastest laps. Since the trend is that one driver captures 40% of these points, I will be selecting two drivers I think could lead the most laps and score the fastest laps. I do not recommend selecting more than two since the position differential points will be more valuable this week.
