The Truck Series will join the Cup Series and the O’Reilly Series at Navy Base Coronado this weekend. All eyes will be on the truckers as they make the first ever points paying laps on a military installation. What year is this? Jimmie Johnson, Jamie McMurray, Brendan Gaughan and Justin Marks will make this race feel like 2010 when they strap their belts behind the wheel of their trucks this week. The Navy 250 can be seen Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on FS1.
DRIVER STATS FOR NAVY BASE CORONADO
We really do not have much data to work with this week. The Truck Series does not race on road courses very often. The Truck Series raced at Watkins Glen earlier this season and then they raced at Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and the Charlotte Roval last year. Many of the drivers in the Truck Series did not compete in the races last year, so all we have to work with is the race this year at Watkins Glen.
Here are the stats from the race at Watkins Glen this year, sorted by DraftKings Points….

PRACTICE / QUALIFYING
The Truck Series was scheduled to have two 50-minutes practices, but the second practice was a mess. The practice was delayed because there was water on the track and then once they got running, Justin Marks and Tanner Gray hit the wall. Navy Base Coronado is a 3.44-mile road course with 16 turns. It is the longest track on the schedule. The truckers did not have time to make many long laps in practice, so we are going to need to focus on the single-lap practice speed. The second practice was a mess, so we will have to rely on the first practice speeds for our picks tonight.
Here are the practice speeds from the final practice session at Navy Base Coronado….

* Over half of the trucks had some type of issue in practice or qualifying.
DRIVER RANKINGS FOR NAVY BASE CORONADO

DFS STRATEGY FOR CORONADO
The race tonight is scheduled for 50 laps (170 miles). That means there are 12.5 points available for leading laps and 22.5 points available for fastest laps (35dominator points available in tonight’s race). That is not a lot of dominator points to chase tonight. We need to focus our picks on place differential points and finishing points. If a driver starts 9th and finishes 7th, he will likely be in the winning lineup.
Many of the drivers said that this track is the toughest that they have been on, so expect a lot of chaos and a battle to survive. Do not be afraid to take a chance with some drivers who may not be know as the best road course racers, because they could finish up front if they can simply stay out of trouble.
