Driver Group Game Picks for Charlotte

The MENCS competes at Charlotte Motor Speedway this week in the Coca-Cola 600.  This will be the fifth race on a 1.5-mile track this season. The same drivers have dominated these races and I expect it to continue Sunday night. There will be time to save allocations over the summer so make sure you use the drivers who have been running up front this year in your lineup.

Here are my picks for Charlotte…

Martin Truex Jr. (9): I picked Kevin Harvick to win this race and he will be a great pick this week. I only have 4 allocations left with the No. 4 car and he starts 39th which adds a little risk to his value. I decided I will save my allocations with Harvick and use Truex instead. Truex ran almost identical lap times as Harvick in practice and Crew Chief Cole Pearn is one of the best in the garage at adjusting their car in the race. That will be very important in a race that starts in the day and ends at night.

Group A Rankings: 1) Kevin Harvick 2) Kyle Busch 3) Martin Truex Jr. 4) Kyle Larson 5) Joey Logano 6) Kyle Larson 7) Denny Hamlin 8) Jimmie Johnson

Ryan Blaney (5): Blaney has been fast all season and the No. 12 team brought another fast car to the track this week. Blaney was 3rd fastest in final practice. His average running position on the 1.5-mile tracks this season is 6.5. I expect Blaney to spend a lot of time in the top 5 again this week.

Kurt Busch (4): Busch has performed very well on the 1.5-mile tracks this season. The only driver with a better driver rating on these tracks in 2018 is Kevin Harvick. Busch was 7th fastest in final practice and he seemed to like his car. I am not worried about using another allocation with Busch this week.

Group B Rankings: 1) Erik Jones 2) Ryan Blaney 3) Kurt Busch 4) Clint Bowyer 5) Chase Elliott 6) Aric Almirola 7) Jamie McMurray 8) Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Chris Buescher (7): Buescher qualified well again this week. He starts 18th and I am hoping he can keep his car inside top 20 again this week. Buescher said his car had good balance in practice. He finished 15th at Las Vegas and Texas and 15th in this race last year. I would gladly take a 15th-place finish from Buescher Sunday night.

Group C Rankings: 1) William Byron 2) Alex Bowman3) Chris Buescher 3) Darrell Wallace Jr. 4) David Ragan 5) Michael McDowell

Good luck this week!
