NASCAR has a goofy schedule this week with qualifying Sunday morning. It is cool that we got to see two practices before our lineups need to be set Sunday morning. I made some slight changes to my initial Driver Group Game lineup I posted earlier this week. Here is my updated lineup with my starters for the race in the starting positions….
Driver Group Game Picks
The races at Indianapolis usually comes down to horsepower and manipulating the air in the draft. The Fords have the horses to run well and Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano are the two best drivers in the draft. I will use the two Team Penske drivers in Group A.
Kurt Busch and Erik Jones have the cars to beat from Group B. I would like to save my allocations with these two drivers but I will use them if something happens in qualifying to my other drivers. I would like to only use Busch and Jones for qualifying points. William Byron has been a qualifying monster this season and the No. 24 car will have a good chance to start up front. Jeff Gordon is in the garage helping the team out and no one knows how to run well in Indiana as well as the local Hoosier. My final driver is Clint Bowyer. I want to use him while he has a lot to race for. This could be the last race if he does not make the playoffs. I heard that Stewart-Haas Racing gave him a car they were saving for the playoffs. Bowyer finished up front at the Brickyard last year and he should do it again Sunday.
I am using Matt DiBenedetto for the race and Chris Buescher for qualifying points. I wish I had an allocation left with Daniel Hemric because I think the No. 8 car will be trimmed out to win the pole. But DiBenedetto and Buescher should be good picks.
Good luck this week.
