Driver Group Game Picks for Kansas

Facebooktwitter

The MENCS competes at Kansas Speedway this week in the KC Masterpiece 400.  Allocations are very important in the Driver Group Game but you will need to use some of your best drivers this week. The cream rises to the top on the 1.5-mile tracks because aerodynamics are very important.

Here are my picks for Kansas…

GROUP A

Kevin Harvick (4): Guess what? The No. 4 team showed up in Kansas with the fastest car. I am not surprised. It is obvious this team has an aerodynamics advantage over the competition. I am quickly running out of allocations with Harvick. I have been playing Fantasy NASCAR for a long time and I have seen people save allocations with a driver who is winning every race only to have to play him when he is not running as well. There is no guarantee that Harvick will be this dominant all season so I am playing him while he is on a hot streak.

Group A Rankings: 1) Kevin Harvick 2) Kyle Busch 3) Martin Truex Jr. 4) Brad Keselowski 5) Joey Logano 6) Kyle Larson 7) Denny Hamlin 8) Jimmie Johnson

GROUP B

Ryan Blaney (6): This is the best track for Blaney and the switch from the Wood Brothers Racing to Team Penske did not slow him down. Blaney had the 9th fastest speed, 5th-fastest 10-lap speed, 4th-best 15-lap speed and the 5th-best 20-lap speed. The No. 12 car gets faster as it gets deeper into a run. Blaney is an excellent pick this week.

Kurt Busch (5): Busch has a history of running well at Kansas. He qualified 15th and finished 2nd at Kansas last October. Stewart-Haas Racing is running a lot better now than they were last October.  Busch has run well at the 1.5-mile tracks this season so I will use another allocation with him this week.

Group B Rankings: 1) Ryan Blaney 2) Kurt Busch 3) Aric Almirola 4) Clint Bowyer 5) Erik Jones 6) Chase Elliott 7) Daniel Suarez 8) Paul Menard

GROUP C

William Byron (7): Byron ran very well at Kansas in the Xfinity Series. He won at this track last year. It looks like the switch to the MENCS car did not slow him down. Byron was 14th-fastest in final practice with the 12th-best 10-lap speed. Byron finished 10th in the last race at a 1.5-mile track at Texas. He should be fast enough to finish in the top 15 Saturday night.

Group C Rankings: 1) William Byron 2) Chris Buescher 3) Alex Bowman 3) Darrell Wallace Jr. 4) David Ragan 5) Michael McDowell

Good luck this week!
