Driver Group Game Picks for Martinsville

Facebooktwitter

The Cup Series drew for starting positions for Wednesday night’s Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500. Track position is very important at Martinsville so I wanted to see how the field will be lined up before making my final picks for the Driver Group Game. Here is my starting lineup for the race this week…

Driver Group Game Team

Group A: You really cannot go wrong with most of the drivers in Group A. Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski all are great picks but do not forget about Joey Logano in row No. 2 behind his teammate. I will go with Kyle Busch starting on the outside with the No. 2 pit stall and the No. 2 ranked pit crew.

Group B: Ryan Blaney is the best pick in Group B but I only have 5 allocations with the No. 12 car. I want to save him for the larger tracks. I will instead take my chances with Aric Almirola from row No.1. Almirola has ran in the top 12 at Martinsville while he has been at Stewart-Haas Racing. I hope he can do it again Wednesday night. I will pair Blaney with Clint Bowyer. He has been good at Martinsville since he joined Stewart-Haas Racing and he won the last race at this track using the current aero-package.

Group C: I do not trust the rookies starting from the back so I will use Matt Kenseth this week. He should be a better pick since there is no practice or qualifying for the drivers to get the feel of the track. Kenseth finished 3 of his last 4 races at Martinsville in the top 10. I am hoping he catches fire Wednesday night. If you want to save your allocation with Kenseth, use Bubba Wallace. He started both races at Martinsville from the 26th position last year and he finished 17th in the spring and 13th in the fall.
