Driver Group Game Picks for Sonoma

The Cup Series has made it to Northern California and we shouldn’t have any weather delays since the teams have rain tires this week. The Cup Series had a 20-minute practice to shake down their cars Saturday. That is not a lot of time to make many laps on a 2.52-mile road course. We did get to see which teams unloaded with some speed though, so I used that information for the picks for the race Sunday.

Here is my starting lineup for the Toyota / Save Mart 350

* Kyle Larson has a really fast car. He missed a few of his marks in qualifying so now he will start 14th. I still think Larson will be really good, but I will save the allocation with the No. 5 car and play Chase Elliott. He needs a win and crew chief Alan Gustafson will be very aggressive with their pit strategy to get the No. 9 car to Victory Lane.

* Tyler Reddick is my pick to win this week, but this race tends to be crazy with pit strategy, so I am saving my allocation with the No. 45 car and I will use Chris Buescher and Daniel Suarez. If you really need the points, play Reddick over Suarez. I need Reddick at many of the oval tracks, so I will sit him out this week. I will I could use Michael McDowell over Suarez.

* Every year I tell myself that I will NEVER play AJ Allmendinger at Sonoma again. Well, here we are…. I am playing Allmendinger again Sunday. He looked awesome in practice and qualified up front, but he always does. I just need the No. 16 team to stop blowing engines at Sonoma. Also, I need to save Ty Gibbs for the oval tracks.

Good Luck Sunday!
