Driver Rankings for Charlotte

The NASCAR Cup Series will get to race at home this week and the stands will be filled for the marathon race. The Coca-Cola 600 is typically when we see some of the teams who got off to a slow start; begin to catch up with the competition. This is truly an endurance race with 10-12 pit stops. There is a lot of time to make mistakes on pit-road and mistakes on the track, so the entire team needs to be on their game. The Coca-Cola 600 can be seen Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on Fox.

The race at Charlotte should be easy to handicap. There have been four races on 1.5-mile tracks, using the 550 HP aero package this season (Atlanta, Homestead, Las Vegas and Kansas). I used the data from those races, but put an emphasis on the races at Las Vegas and Kansas because those are high-speed intermediate tracks like Charlotte. I also used some of the data from the races at Charlotte using the 550 HP aero package.

The rankings should be pretty accurate this week, but we will get a better idea of which drivers will be fast after practice Friday night (7 p.m. ET on FS1). I will post my Fantasy NASCAR picks after the qualifying session Saturday (11:30 a.m. ET on FS1).
