Driver Rankings for Dover

The NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Dover International Speedway this week for 400-miles of intense racing. Some drivers compare making laps at the “Monster Mile” to riding a roller coaster. They say that diving down to the bottom of the track from the high-banked corners is the most fun they have all season. They will get to do it 400 times this week. The Drydene 400 can be seen Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on FS1.

Typically I use the data from the race at Bristol for my picks at Dover. Both tracks are high-banked, concrete, short-tracks, but Bristol was dirty this year. I am not using too much of the information for the race in Thunder Valley for the race at the Monster Mile.

Dover is similar to Darlington so I will use the Driver Rating and Green Flag Speeds from last week’s race for the Drydene 400. Dover has 25 degrees of banking in the corners, while Darlington has 24 degrees of banking. The racing surfaces are different but both tracks require the drivers to search for grip. The Cup Series will use the 750 HP aero package this week. That is the same package that was used at Darlington. The drivers who ran well last week should finish up front Sunday.

You cannot ignore past history at Dover so I used the Driver Ranking and Average Finishing Position from the last four races at the Monster Mile for my picks this week. There are a handful of drivers who finish in the top-10 each year at Dover and they should continue their hot-streak at the track Sunday.
