Driver Rankings for New Hampshire

The NASCAR Cup Series will join the Xfinity Series at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this week. The Cup Series has not competed at the Magic Mile since early August of 2020. A lot has happened since that race, but some of the drivers who ran well at New Hampshire last year; are running well in the 750 HP aero package at the short, flat tracks this year.

This is the last race before the Olympic Break. The Cup Series will not be back on track until August 8^th. The teams are not going to sit around and enjoy their time off. They will be in the garage trying to figure out how to gain some speed in their cars. We saw last week that some of the teams closed the gap in speed between the Hendrick Motorsports cars and the rest of the field. I expect the gap to close even more since the teams will have a month to figure it out.

I focused on the drivers who ran well at Phoenix and Richmond this year for my rankings. Those two tracks are similar in size and shape as New Hampshire. I also factored in the driver’s previous results at the Magic Mile and their stats from the previous four oval tracks. I believe in momentum is important in the Cup Series.
