Driver Rankings for Pocono

The Cup Series will compete at the “Tricky Triangle” this weekend. Usually the series competes at Pocono in June and late July but this year the races will be a double-header. The first Cup Series race is on Saturday at 3:30 on Fox and the second race is Sunday at 4 p.m. on Fox Sports 1.

The first race at Pocono was a disaster last year. The current 550 HP aero package made it very tough to pass the leader. The track added the PJ1 Traction Compound in all three corners in second race and it helped provide additional grooves for the cars to make a pass and more side-by-side racing. I expect more “sticky stuff” to be applied this weekend.

It is hard to compare Pocono to any another track on the circuit. I like to use Green Flag Speed this year, Driver Rankings from this year and Average Running Position from the 1.5 and 2-mile tracks this season. I also added in the Green Flag Speed from the two races at Pocono last year and the Driver Rankings from the two races at the Tricky Triangle in 2019. The last metric I used was career Driver Ranking at Pocono.
