Was the first race at Pocono exciting enough for you? If not, don’t worry… We get to do it all over Sunday. But this time the format will be a bit different….
.The teams are required to use the same car they used in Saturday’s race. They are only allowed to make minor adjustments. The changes allowed are the same adjustments the teams can make during a normal pit stop.
The drivers who finished 1-20 will be inverted, so the driver who finished 20th (Chris Biescher) will be on the pole and the driver who finished 1st (Alex Bowman) will start 20th. The drivers who finished 21st-38th will start in their finishing position from Saturday’s race. * Any driver who goes to a backup car will start in the back.
The race today is 10 laps longer than yesterday’s race. That may not sound like a lot, but it is 25 miles and could affect fuel strategy for today’s race.
The best way to predict what will happen Sunday is to focus on what happened Saturday. I used the Driver Ranking, Average Green Flag Speed, Quality Passes and Average Running Position for Saturdays race to calculate the finishing order for Sunday’s race. I also factored in the driver rating from the last 4 races (so momentum is in the equation) and the driver rating using the 550 HP aero package this season.
Here are the Driver Rankings for the Pocono Mountains 350 …
