Early Week Driver Rankings for Bristol

Facebooktwitter

It’s Bristol Baby! The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be back to short track racing at Bristol this week. This is the first race track I ever attended a race at and wow is it awesome. If you have never been to Thunder Valley it needs to be on your bucket list. The action is incredible. Just bring your ear plugs. The Food City 500 is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET Sunday on Fox Sports 1.

It will be a normal schedule for the MENCS this week. The first practice will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET and qualifying will be at 6 p.m. ET (FS1). There will be two practices Saturday for the teams to dial in their cars. The first is at 8:30 a.m. ET and final practice is at 11 a.m. ET. I will post my Garage Talk Notes after final practice.

My early week pick for the pole is Kyle Larson. He won the pole for the last race at Bristol and he should have a good chance to do it again Friday. Larson has qualified 1st, 6th, 2nd and 1st in the last 4 races in Thunder Valley. He just knows how to turn fast laps at this track.

Each week I use different stats in my model to create the best rankings possible to give you an edge on the completion. This week I used driver rankings from Bristol since the repave, average finishing position, green flag passes (it is hard to pass so we want drivers who know how to do it), short track driver rankings for 2019 and Dover / Bristol combined ranking. The drivers who were fast in those races should be up front Sunday.
