Early Week Driver Rankings for Dover

Facebooktwitter

The 2023 NASCAR season is flying by. We are already at race 11 on the schedule and almost half-way through the regular season. The Cup Series will travel to Dover International Speedway this week to take on the “Monster Mile.” This is a unique track. It is a one-mile, high-banked, concrete track. Some people compare it to Bristol (not on dirt), but it races more like an intermediate track (Las Vegas and Darlington). Hopefully Goodyear brings a tire compound that allows for some falloff and creates some exciting racing. So far that has not happened a lot in 2023.

The Cup Series will NOT use the short track aero package that was used at Phoenix and Richmond. They will use the same aero package that was used last year at Dover. This does not mean we need to ignore what happened at Phoenix and Richmond. It simply means that it will just be one part of the equation that is used to predict the race Sunday.

I used the data from the races at Phoenix, Las Vegas and Richmond this year. I added in the data from the race at Dover last year and the driver’s average finishing position at Dover over the last three seasons. This should give us a good which drivers will be best for our Fantasy NASCAR lineups Sunday.
