Early Week Driver Rankings for Indianapolis

The MENCS travels to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week for the Brickyard 400. This is one of the crown jewel races in  NASCAR and the last chance for drivers to secure a spot in the 2018 Playoffs. The race can be seen Sunday at 2 PM ET on NBC Sports Network.

The MENCS will have two practices Saturday. The first will be at 10:30 PM ET and the final practice will be at 1:30 PM ET, both on NBCSN. Qualifying will be Saturday evening at 6 PM ET on NBCSN. The cars will be impounded after qualifying so we will need to watch to see if any cars have to start in the back Sunday night.

Each week I use different stats in my model to create the best rankings possible to give you an edge on the completion. This week I used the results from the two Pocono races, average finishing position at Indianapolis, Driver Ranking at Indianapolis, Quality Pass % at Indianapolis (We want drivers who can pass other cars), Driver Rankings this season and average finishing position in the last 6 races (We want drivers who have momentum).

My early week pick for the pole is Kyle Busch. He has won the pole for the last two races at Indianapolis and he has won three poles this season. The No. 18 team always shows up with one of the fastest cars for the Brickyard 400. Busch should be a serious threat to win the pole Saturday evening.
