Early Week Driver Rankings for Las Vegas

The Cup Series travels across the Mojave Desert on I-15 this week to Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS). This is one of my favorite tracks and it used to be my home track. LVMS is a 1.5-mile intermediate track. It races a lot like Kansas Speedway. The track has some character with the bumps over the tunnel, but tire wear will not be as much of a factor as it was last week at Fontana. Track position typically is very important in Sin City, so stacking your lineups with drivers who start in the back will not be a good idea like it was last week. All three series (Cup, Xfinity and Trucks) will compete this weekend, so there will be plenty of racing to keep you entertained.

I used the Driver Rating from the two races at Las Vegas last year, the intermediate track races in the playoffs last year and added in the stats from the race at Auto Club to determine my driver ratings. I am friends with one of the sportsbook directors in Las Vegas (Micah Roberts) and he tells me that this is the most wagered on race of the season in Las Vegas. The sportsbooks spend a lot of time researching this race to get the odds right. I will factor in the Las Vegas odds into the rankings too.
