Early Week Driver Rankings for Martinsville

Facebooktwitter

The Round of 8 in the MENCS Playoffs will begin at Martinsville Speedway. Who will be the first driver to secure a spot in the Championship race at Homestead? This race always involves beating and banging but the intensity usually crosses the line when there is so much to race face. The short tracks always produce the best racing in the playoffs.  The race can be seen Sunday at 2:30pm ET on NBC Sports Net.

The First Data 500 will have a condensed schedule this week. There will be two practices Saturday morning (9am ET on CNBC and 11:30am ET on CNBC). Qualifying will be at 4pm ET on NBCSN.

My early week pick for the pole is Joey Logano. The No. 22 car won the pole last week at Kansas and I would not be surprised if Logano made it two in a row. Logano has won the pole 3 of the last 6 races at Martinsville. His average qualifying position at the paper-clip shaped track since 2014 is 2.8. He really knows how to start up front at this track.

Each week I use different stats in my model to create the best rankings possible to give you an edge on the completion. This week I used the results from the flat track races, driver ranking at Martinsville, average finishing position at Martinsville,  driver ranking for the season, and driver ranking over the last 6 races (We want drivers who have momentum).

Here are the early week driver rankings for Martinsville…
