Early Week Driver Rankings for Talladega

The second race of Round 2 of the MENCS Playoffs will take place at Talladega Superspeedway. This is the most dangerous race for the 12 playoff drivers because their fate is not in their hands. The drivers need to be in the right place at the right time in order to find their way to Victory Lane this week. The race can be seen Sunday at 2pm ET on NBC Sports Network.

NASCAR likes a reduced weekend race schedule and that is what they have this week. The MENCS will only have one practice this week. The first and final practice will be Saturday at 10am ET on NBC Sports Network. Garage Talk Notes will not be posted this week because practice at the Superspeedways is meaningless and the information will not help your fantasy teams. Qualifying for the MENCS will be Saturday at 3:30pm ET on NBC Sports Network.

My early week pick for the pole is Chase Elliott.  Elliott has started on the front row in half of his starts on the restrictor-plate tracks. He won the pole for the last race at a Superspeedway (Daytona in July) and he is the favorite to start first Sunday.

Each week I use different stats in my model to create the best rankings possible to give you an edge on the completion. This week I used the results from the three races on the Superspeedways this season, Driver Ranking on Superspeedway and Driver Ranking at Talladega.
