Fantasy Live Picks for Charlotte

The Cup Series will have a home game this weekend when they race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Coca-Cola 600 is the most important race on the Fantasy Live schedule. There are three Stages in Sunday’s race, so that means there are more points available in the Coca-Cola 600 than any race on the schedule. We need to ensure we capture as many Stage Points as possible at Charlotte.

The Fantasy Live picks were pretty good at Darlington. I decided to go all in with the RFK Racing cars and play Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher. That worked out well, since Keselowski won the race and it allowed me to save some of the drivers from Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing for another race. Placing Denny Hamlin in the Garage was a mistake, since the No. 11 car finished 4th at Darlington. At least I have another allocation to use with Hamlin this summer. The picks are once again outscoring 99.9% of the entries on I will do my best to keep the picks running hot at Charlotte.

The Cup Series had their normal practice session at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The teams had 20-minutes to shake down their cars before they lined up for qualifying. There are a lot of cautions in the Coca-Cola 600, but there are also a lot of long runs in this race. We need drivers who were had speed in the short and long runs in practice Saturday.

Here are the practice speeds for the Coca-Cola 600

KYLE LARSON (5): All eyes will be on “Yung Money” this week. Can Larson finish up front in the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600? I would not bet against it. Larson is no stranger to Victory Lane at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He won both races in 2019 and then destroyed the field in 2021 when he led 327 of the 400 laps. Larson has the car and the talent to win at Charlotte after running 500 miles at Indy. (I just hope it doesn’t rain)

WILLIAM BYRON (5): Byron is usually really good at his home track. The No. 24 car dominated the Coca-Cola 600 last year. Byron won the pole, led 91 laps, scored the most Stage Points and finished 2nd in the race. He looks fast again this weekend. Byron posted the fastest speed in practice and qualified 2nd for the race. Byron has a good chance to win his 4th race of the season this week at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

CHRISTOPHER BELL (6): There is no doubt that Bell will have a car fast enough to run up front. Can he avoid the mistakes for 600-miles? This team has been snake bit this year and they have not had much luck in the Coca-Cola 600. I feel safer using Bell in Fantasy Live since I can put him in the Garage if he runs into bad luck again Sunday. Bell has too much upside to fade this week, so I will use an allocation with the No. 20 car at Charlotte.

MARTIN TRUEX JR. (7): Truex has a history of dominating races when he has speed in practice and he qualifies up front. The No. 19 car posted the 8th fastest speed in practice and qualified 4th for the race. Every time I think of Truex at the Coca-Cola 600, I think of the race in 2016 when he led 392 of the 400 laps. It was the most dominating race I have ever seen in NASCAR. Truex will not be that good this weekend, but he should run up front and score well for your Fantasy Live lineup.

TY GIBBS (8): Could this be the race when Gibbs breaks his maiden and finds Victory Lane? We have seen some crazy stuff in the Coca-Cola 600, so it would not surprise me. Gibbs posted the 5th fastest speed in practice and he won the pole for the race. Gibbs will have the speed to run up front. I just need him to race 600-miles mistake free. At least I can put him in the Garage if Gibbs messes up.

(GARAGE PICK) CHASE ELLIOTT (4): The Coca-Cola 600 is a marathon race with 12+ pit stops. The No. 9 pit crew ranks No. 1 in NASCAR in pit stop speed. This should help Elliott gain track position in the pits. It also helps that he has a fast car. Elliott won on the 1.5-mile track at Texas and finished 3rd at Kansas. He should have a great chance to finish in the top-five Sunday at Charlotte. Elliott should be a good insurance policy to have in the Garage Sunday.

* I really like DENNY HAMLIN in this race, but I am fading him because I only have four allocations left with the No. 11 car. You can use him over Christopher Bell if you have 5 or more allocations left with Hamlin.

Good luck and be sure to follow me on X (Twitter) @MrFantasyNASCARI will send out a Tweet during the race to let you know if I plan to swap out one of my drivers for my Garage pick.
