The monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete at Dover International Speedway this week.
There will be 400 laps in the race Sunday. That means there will be 400 bonus points available for leading laps and fastest laps in the race. These points add up quickly so fantasy teams need to capture as many of them as possible. Selecting drivers who start up front with a possibility to score bonus points for leading laps, fastest laps and Stage points will be important.
I am once again selecting the driver who won the pole Friday. Clean air has been very important this season and the driver who wins the pole usually leads a large portion of the race. I think Kyle Busch can lead many laps Sunday.
Martin Truex Jr. has a better car than Kyle Busch in race trim but the No. 1 pit stall and the clean air will help the No. 18 car. Rowdy will lead many laps but once Truex gets the lead it will be hard to get it back from him.
The third driver for my team can down to Kyle Larson and Jimmie Johnson. I think they will both be very good this week but I went with Larson because he has a better chance to lead laps. Larson had the fastest car in Happy Hour Practice with the fastest 10-lap and 20-lap average speed.
Chris Buescher and Landon Cassill always run a lot better than where they qualify. I think both of these drivers will move up 10 spots in the race Sunday.
Here are my picks for the AAA 400…
Martin Truex Jr. $28.00 (Starts 2nd)
Kyle Busch $27.00 (Starts Pole)
Kyle Larson $27.25 (Starts 5th)
Chris Buescher $10.50 (Starts 29th)
Landon Cassill $7.50 (Starts 27th)
PICK TO WIN: Kyle Busch
* I know I picked Kyle Larson to win the race on the website but I am going with Kyle Busch in Fantasy Live. Rowdy has a lot to prove and he will be tough to get the lead from. I went with Toyota because I will then receive bonus points if Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr. or Matt Kenseth win the race.
Good luck this week!
