Fantasy Live Picks for Kansas

Facebooktwitter

The monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete at Kansas Speedway Sunday. So far Fantasy Live has been my best game this season. I plan to make my way into the top 99.9% and I am almost there. I need to have a good race this week in order to climb into the top 100 overall.

My strategy on the 1.5-mile tracks is usually to select three dominators and two drivers who cars score position differential points. Since Ryan Blaney starts 40th, I was forced to adjust my strategy. I will be selecting 2 dominators (Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick), 1 driver who can move into the top 10 and score Stage points (Jimmie Johnson), one cheap driver (Landon Cassill) and Ryan Blaney.

Martin Truex Jr. won the pole for the race Sunday and he should be the top dominator in the race. He has won 5 races on the 1.5-mile tracks, including both races in the playoffs (Chicago and Charlotte). Truex has led 932 laps on the 1.5-mile tracks this season and he should add a lot more to his total Sunday. Truex is my pick to win.

Kevin Harvick has been the most consistent driver at Kansas. He has finished the last four races at the track in the top 3. The No. 4 team has found some speed at the 1.5-mile tracks since the playoffs began. He dominated the last race at Charlotte (led 149 laps) and he ran well at Chicago (led 52 laps and finished 3rd). Harvick should be up front all day at Kansas and finish another race in the top 3.

Jimmie Johnson needs a good race in order to advance in the playoffs. I am done counting this team out. They were 11th fastest in Final Practice but the No. 48 team used their four sets of tires in the previous practices so they spent the last practice on scuff tires. Johnson always runs well in the fall race at Kansas. He should move up 4-6 spots Sunday.

Ryan Blaney starts last (40th) because his qualifying time was not allowed. This is the best track for Blaney. He won the pole, led the 2nd most laps and finished 4th in the May race at Kansas. The No. 21 car was very fast in practice. I expect Blaney to move up 30 spots Sunday and it will be hard to score well without him on your team.

Landon Cassill gets the final spot on my team because he is the best cheap driver I can afford. Cassill starts 31st so there is little risk in using him on your team. Cassill started 36th and finished 21st in the May race at Kansas. I would be thrilled if he can repeat that performance Sunday.

Here are my picks for the Kansas…

Martin Truex Jr. $28.00 (Starts Pole)

Kevin Harvick $27.00 (Starts 2nd)

Jimmie Johnson $23.25 (Starts 12th)

Ryan Blaney $17.00 (Starts 40th)

Landon Cassill $6.00 (Starts 31st)

PICK TO WIN: Martin Truex Jr.

MANUFACTURER: Toyota

* If you cannot afford my team I recommend switching Landon Cassill for Matt Dibenedetto or Jimmie Johnson to Kurt Busch.

Good luck this week!
