The MENCS heads back to Michigan International Speedway for the Consumers Energy 400. My picks for Fantasy Live barely made it back into the top 100 (ranked 99th out of nearly 400,000 entries). When the MENCS last raced at Michigan, my picks scored 214 points (not very good). I plan to do a lot better this week so we can make are move towards the top 50 overall.
There are 4 races left in the Fantasy Live regular season. There is no need to save allocations any more. I am using Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch this week. I only have one allocation left with Harvick and two left with Busch. The No. 4 and No. 18 look like the class of the field this week. They both need playoff points so I expect them to fight hard for the Stage win. I will have a great insurance policy in the garage if either of these drivers have problems in the first two Stages.
I only have one allocation left with Joey Logano and this is a great race to use it. Logano won at Michigan in 2016 and Michigan ranks as one of his best tracks. Logano qualified 9th and he had the fastest car in final practice. I will roll the dice with the No. 22 car this week.
Steve Letart from NBC Sports said, “After looking at the practice speeds and the long runs, it is obvious that Erik Jones is the driver to beat.” I agree with him. Jones posted the 9th fastest lap in final practice with the fastest speed on the long runs. Jones qualified 4th and it would not surprise me to see Jones follow up Chase Elliott’s first win with a win of his own at his home track.
Ryan Blaney looked really fast this week. He qualified 8th, posted the 6th fastest lap speed in final practice and had the 2nd fastest car on the long runs. Blaney qualified 9th, led 15 laps and score points in both Stages in the first race at Michigan. I expect him to run the race in the top 10 again this week.
Kyle Larson will be my insurance policy in the Garage this week. Can it get any better than having the driver who has won 3 of the last 5 races at Michigan in your Garage? The only reason Larson is not in my starting lineup is because he starts 17th. I am sure he will race his way through the field. If he does, I will put him into my starting lineup.
* Garage Driver: Fantasy players can put a driver (Garage Driver) into their lineup at any time before the end of Stage 2. You will lose the Stage points from the driver you take out of your lineup though. I only plan to make a change if one of my driver crashes and that is likely to happen this week. If I make a change I will post a message on my Twitter account: @MrFantasyNASCAR
Here are my picks for the Michigan…

Driver 2: Kyle Busch (2)
