My Fantasy Live picks keep rolling along. Currently my picks are beating 98% of the competition after beating 100% of the competition in the regular season. We could have done a lot better last week if Clint Bowyer would not have spun out with 5 laps to go. We still have 3 weeks to get to the top 100% and that will be one heck of an accomplishment for the 2018 season. We finally won the bonus points for selecting the pole winner. Hopefully we can keep our good luck going in the First Data 500 Sunday.
2 Playoff Drivers
My two Playoff Drivers will be Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick. These two drivers have won 6 of the 9 races on the 1.5-mile tracks this season. They have also won the last two races at Texas. The race Sunday should come down to a battle between the No. 4 and No. 18 car. I would be surprised if they did not finish each Stage and the race in the top 5 Sunday.
2 Non-Playoff Drivers
My two Non-Playoff Drivers will be Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski. The Fords look like they have the most speed at Texas. The Blue ovals took 7 of the top 8 spots in qualifying and they looked very fast in practice. Blaney has the pole and the No. 1 pit stop. The No. 12 car should score a lot of Stage points and finish in the top 10. Keselowski has been one of the best drivers on the intermediate tracks in the playoffs. He qualified 5th, so he should also score a lot of Stage points and finish in the top 10.
I trust Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick to run up front, score Stage points and finish in the top five. There is no reason to waste the Garage Driver pick on a Playoff Driver. I will use Denny Hamlin in the Garage this week. Hamlin qualified 6th and his car looked very fast in each of the practices. Hamlin is a 2 time winner at Texas and he really wants to get to Victory Lane before the season ends. Hamlin will be a good insurance policy Sunday.
