Fantasy Live Playoff Game Picks for Texas

Facebooktwitter

The Fantasy Live picks are cruising right along as always. The picks beat 99.8% of the competition in the regular season and they are beating 99.5% of the competition in the playoffs. We still have three races to finish in the top .1%. The race at Texas is going to be crazy because the 550 HP aero package has caused the races to come down to momentum. A driver can throw a block and ruin the run by another driver and crush your fantasy lineup. We will need to pick two Playoff Drivers who are locks to run up front and take a Non-Playoff Driver in the Garage so we have as many options as possible.

Here are my picks for the race in Texas….

* I am hedging my picks this week and picking Kevin Harvick to win and Toyota as the winning manufacturer. That way if Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Denny Hamlin, Erik Jones or Harvick win… I will score bonus points.

PLAYOFF DRIVERS

Denny Hamlin: All of the stats suggest the No. 11 car will be back in Victory Lane Sunday. Hamlin won the last race at Texas, he won the last race on a 1.5-mile track (Kansas), he posted the 3rd fastest speed in the 1st practice, Hamlin posted the 2nd fastest speed in final practice and he qualified 3rd. Hamlin has a great chance to score a lot of Stage points and secure his spot in the championship race at Homestead.

Kevin Harvick: The No. 4 car looked fast in practice. Harvick posted the 4th fastest speed with the 3rd-fastest 10-lap average speed. He really needs a good race this week if he wants to compete in the championship race at Homestead so I expect the No. 4 team to try and score as many Stage points as possible and finish in the top 3. Texas is the best 1.5-mile track for Harvick. He has not finished outside the top 10 in the Lone Star State since 2014 (11 races).

NON-PLAYOFF DRIVERS

Erik Jones: Jones had a good race at Texas in March. He qualified 11th and finished 4th. It was the 3rd consecutive race at the track where Jones finished in the 4th position. The No. 20 team brought another fast car to the track this week. Jones had the same setup as Kyle Busch. He posted the 9th fastest speed in final practice with the 7th fastest 10-lap average speed. Jones has a history of finishing in the top 5 at this track. Jones starts 2nd so I will take a chance that he can finish up front again Sunday.

Kurt Busch:  Busch finished 4th two weeks ago at Kansas and the No. 1 car looks fast again this week. He spent the first practice testing different setups for his teammate. Busch really liked his car in final practice. He said he liked the balance and the speed chart showed why he liked it so much. Busch posted the 5th fastest speed in final practice and had the 4th fastest 10-lap average speed. Busch finished 9th at Texas in March. I expect him to finish higher than that Sunday.

GARAGE DRIVER

Aric Almirola: I wasn’t planning on playing Almirola in the Garage this week but it is hard to ignore the speed the No. 10 car has. Almirola has one of the best long-run speed cars. He posted the 2nd-fastest 10-lap speed, 2nd-fastest 20-lap speed and the fastest 25-lap speed. Almirola finished 9th at Martinsville in March and he has a history of running well at the paperclip. I will take a chance with him Sunday.
