Fantasy Live allows each team to try and predict the driver who will win the pole each week. You do not have to make a pick, but if you do and you are correct; your fantasy team will earn 5 bonus points. Just keep in mind that the Bonus Picks do not carry over from week-to-week. You must return to your team each week and make a selection in order to be eligible for the Bonus Points.
Here is my pick for the Pole at Atlanta: Kevin Harvick
Kevin Harvick won the pole for this race last year and I think he can do it again Friday evening. Harvick spent 75 of the 90 minute practice in race trim. He switched over to qualifying trim with 10 minutes left and posted the 7th-quickest speed. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had the fastest speed but there are three rounds of qualifying at Atlanta. Lap times drop about 1.5 seconds per lap on this track so managing your tires for all 3 rounds will be important. I trust Harvick to do that a lot more then I trust Stenhouse.
My sleeper pick for the pole is Ryan Newman. He has won 7 career poles at Atlanta and he has the best average starting position in the last 3 races at the track. Newman liked his car in practice so if you want to go with a driver no one else will have, Newman is your driver.
Be sure to check back after the final practice Saturday evening to see my picks for my Starting Lineup, Garage Driver, Stage 1 Winner, Stage 2 Winner, Race Winner and Winning Manufacturer.
Good Luck this week!!
