Fantasy NASCAR Driver Rankings for Las Vegas

The Cup Series has completed its Superspeedway portion of the schedule and now it is time for the “West Coast Swing.” The Cup Series will load up their haulers and travel to the western time-zone this week. We typically get three races out west, but this year we only get two, since the race at Auto Club Speedway has been removed from the schedule. The “West Coast Swing” starts with a trip to Las Vegas for the Pennzoil 400.

Some drivers and crew chiefs say the “real season” starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There will be no more drafting and no more running half-throttle to save fuel. We will finally get to see what each team has for the 2024 season. The Fords and Toyota’s have a new car, so it will be interesting to what kind of speed the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and the Toyota Camry XSE have at Las Vegas.

I used a lot of data for the Driver Rankings this week. I used the Driver Rating and Average Green Flag Speed from the two races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last year, the Driver Rating and Average Green Flag Speed from all of the 1.5-mile tracks in 2023, the Driver Rating and Average Green Flag Speed from all of the races in the Gen-7 car on the 1.5-mile tracks (2022 – 2023) and then I used the Driver Rating and Average Green Flag Speed on the playoff races last year on the 1.5-mile tracks (Kansas, Texas and Las Vegas).
