The Cup Series will travel to the “Heartland” this week to compete at Kansas Speedway. This is “my home track” and I know it inside and out. I am still not sure if I will be attending the race Sunday but it should be a great race either on TV or in person. This track ages well in the cold winters of Kansas. It kind of races like Homestead now. The Advent Health 400 should be another exciting race for the Gen-7 car.
KANSAS RACE SCHEDULE
SATURDAY, MAY 14th
4 PM -6 PM CUP SERIES PRACTICE /QUALIFYING (FS1)
SUNDAY, MAY 15TH
3 PM ET CUP SERIES RACE (FS1)
DRIVER RANKINGS FOR KANSAS
The NASCAR Cup Series is through 12 races on their 2022 schedule and so far the teams have only competed on one true 1.5-mile track (Atlanta races like a Superspeedway now so I do not count that race). The race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the closest track in size and shape to Kansas Speedway so I looked at the data from that race for the driver rankings this year.
The driver’s track history has not transferred into success at the tracks in the Gen-7 car this year so I am focusing on what the drivers did in 2022. The teams will use the use the 670 HP aero package with the 4” spoiler this week. I will use the data from the races using this aero package for the driver rankings this week.
