Fantasy NASCAR Preview for Indy

The crazy 2022 season continues after a bizarre race at the Tricky Triangle. Chase Elliott added another win to his season total after not leading a lap at Pocono. So the race this week at the Indianapolis Road Course has to be a lot calmer then what we have seen at other tracks this year, right? Don’t count on it. The Indy Road Course Race has a wild finish last year when NASCAR determined Chase Briscoe took a short-cut to gain track position. I expected a lot of beating and banging and another wild and crazy finish at the Brickyard.

DRIVER RANKINGS FOR INDIANAPOLIS

The race on the Indianapolis Road Course last year was scheduled for 82 laps but it took 95 laps to complete because of the cautions at the end of the race that forced numerous overtimes. The Gen-7 car has produced more cautions then usual so the race Sunday may never be completed.

Predicting which drivers will wreck and who will be dumped heading into a corner is impossible. My strategy this week is to simply pick the best road course drivers and hope they can stay out of trouble and avoid making other drivers mad.

I used the Driver Rating and Average Running Position from the three road course races this year (COTA, Sonoma and Road America) for the Driver Rating this week. I also used the Driver Rating from the race at Indianapolis last year. This should give us a good idea who will run up front Sunday.
