Fantasy NASCAR Preview for Las Vegas

Facebooktwitter

NASCAR will take the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and the Truck Series to Sin City this weekend to race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This town has their sparkling buildings and some of the best shows in the world, but how in the hell are they going to top what we saw at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Sunday? The chances of getting a three-wide finish are about the same as hitting the jackpot on slot machine, but we can still expect some exciting racing. The last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway had 20 lead changes and a margin of victory of .082 seconds. Buckle up; we are in for another wild ride in the Cup Series Sunday.

LAS VEGAS SCHEDULE

It will be a busy week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. All three series will compete this weekend and NASCAR will have practice for each race. It is only a short practice to shake down the cars, but 20 minutes of track time is better than no practice at all. The cars / trucks will line up for qualifying immediately after practice and then they will be impounded for the race. Finally, NASCAR is back to a regular schedule this week.

RACE RECAP AT LAS VEGAS 2023

Christopher Bell won the pole for the last race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He won the pole two of the three playoff races on the 1.5-mile tracks last year. Once the green flag waived, the race became “The Kyle Larson Show.” The No. 5 car led 135 laps, won Stage 1, won Stage 2 and won the race. Bell led 61 laps and scored 17 Stage Points. Brad Keselowski also looked fast. The No. 6 car led 38 laps and scored 14 Stage Points. The Legacy Motor Club cars (Erik Jones and Carson Hocevar) had issues with their tires going down. Overall, the drivers we expect to run up front on the 1.5-mile tracks were leading most of the race at Las Vegas last year. I expect the same Sunday.

FANTASY STATS FOR LAS VEGAS

The race Sunday at Las Vegas is going to be one of the tougher races on the schedule to predict. The Fords and Toyota’s have new cars and we do not know how the Ford Mustang Dark Horse or the Camry XSE will race. All we can do for the Pennzoil 400 is look at the starts from the previous four races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the Gen-7 car and then diversify our lineups to include the top drivers from each manufacturer. We will know a lot more after qualifying and practice Saturday.

Here are the stats from the four races using the Gen-7 car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (sorted by Driver Rating)…
