Fantasy NASCAR Preview for Nashville

Facebooktwitter

The NASCAR Cup Series will join the Truck Series and the Xfinity Series at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend. This will be the fourth year for the Cup Series in Nashville. The atmosphere outside the track is one big party and the racing on the track has been pretty good too. This should be a fun week, with three races in Music City.

NASHVILLE SCHEDULE

The Truck Series returns after a three-week break. They will have the track for themselves Friday when they qualify in the afternoon and race at night. The Xfinity Series will practice and qualify Saturday afternoon and then race Saturday night. The Cup Series will have their 20-minute practice session Saturday afternoon and the race Sunday at roughly the same time.

Here is the schedule for the races at Nashville…

RACE RECAP AT NASHVILLE

Ross Chastain won the pole at the home track for Trackhouse Racing. The No. 1 car led 99 laps, finished second and in Stage 1, third in Stage 2 and went to Victory Lane. Tyler Reddick also looked good in the race. Reddick led 33 laps and won Stage 1, but a loose lug nut caused his wheel to fall off and ruined the race for the No. 45 team. The Joe Gibbs Racing cars of Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr. used pit strategy to move to the front. They led many laps in the final Stage, but Chastain was able to run them down and take the checkered flag for the win.

The best drivers in the race included Ross Chastain, Martin Truex Jr., Tyler Reddick, William Byron, Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell

Stage 1 Results: 1. Tyler Reddick, 2. Ross Chastain, 3. William Byron, 4. Martin Truex Jr., 5. Denny Hamlin, 6. Chase Elliott, 7. Kyle Busch, 8. Kyle Larson, 9. Christopher Bell, 10. A.J. Allmendinger

Stage 2 Results: 1. Denny Hamlin, 2. Martin Truex Jr., 3. Ross Chastain, 4. William Byron, 5. Christopher Bell, 6. Bubba Wallace, 7. Chase Elliott, 8. A.J. Allmendinger, 9. Kevin Harvick, 10. Erik Jones

FANTASY STATS FOR NASHVILLE

Nashville Superspeedway is a 1.33-mile, concrete, tri-oval track. The most similar track to Nashville is Dover Motor Speedway. The drivers who run well at Dover typically run up front at Nashville. Darlington is a 1.33-mile track that has some similarities to Nashville, but the surfaces are different. I will use the stats from the two Gen-7 car races at Nashville and the races at Dover and Darlington this year to help build the fantasy lineups this week.

Here are the stats from the last two races at Nashville in the Gen-7 car and the races at Dover and Darlington earlier this year, sorted by Driver Rating…
