Fox Fantasy Auto Racing will compete this week in Auto Club Speedway this weekend.
Remember the scoring format for Fox Fantasy Auto Racing. Teams earn one point if their driver leads a lap and another point if the driver leads the most laps. The game awards 1 point for position differential (drivers starting position minus his finishing position). So if Jimmie Johnson starts 37th and wins the race, your team earns 37 bonus points. Since position differential is so important, the best strategy is to select drivers who start outside the top 10 with a good chance of finishing up front.
Qualifying on Friday really made picking your team easy this week. Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and Trevor Bayne failed to qualify their cars so they will start at the back of the pack. Every team must have these three drivers on their team. The question is who do we pair with them?
I thought about Chase Elliott (Starting 13th) but I went with the safer pick, Kevin Harvick. The No. 4 car has finished the last two races at this track in the top two and he has one of the fastest cars this week. Also Chase Elliott got a flat tire and hit the wall pretty hard in final practice. I am not sure how bad the damage is.
I wanted to go with Dale Earnhardt Jr. as my final driver but he looked like he was hauling eggs in Final Practice. Earnhardt was 27th fastest with the 30th fastest 10-lap average. I decided to go with the driver with the 4th-fastest speed and the fastest 15-lap average speed in practice, Erik Jones. He starts 14th and has a top-five car.
Here are my picks for the Auto Club 400….
Driver 1: Kevin Harvick $11,500 (Starts 7th)
Driver 2: Joey Logano $12,200 (Starts 35th)
Driver 3: Jimmie Johnson $12,100 (Starts 37th)
Driver 4: Trevor Bayne $8,200 (Starts 36th)
Driver 5: Erik Jones $5,000 (Starts 14th)
Good luck this week!
