The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will compete this week at Chicagoland Speedway. This is the last first race of the 2017 MENCS Playoffs. The cream usually rises to the top once the 16 drivers start to compete for the championship. It will be important to fit as many of the playoff drivers as possible into your lineups the next 10 weeks.
My Fox Fantasy Auto Racing are ranked 19th in the overall standings. My goal is to finish in the top 10 so I need to finish the season strong. Hopefully I have better luck this week than I did at Richmond. I do not think my nerves can handle another ambulance taking out my drivers.
The scoring format for Fox Fantasy Auto Racing rewards drivers who improve their position in the race a lot more than the drivers who lead the most laps. The problem is that the best drivers all start inside the top 15. The only driver who starts in the back that has a fast car is Erik Jones. He spun out in qualifying so he will be scored from the 24th position and he starts dead last. Jones should still finish in the top 15 and score 10 position differential points.
I think the best strategy this week is to select the drivers who were fast in all practices and qualified in the top 15.
Here are my picks for the Chicago….
Driver 1: Martin Truex Jr. $12,500 (Starts 3rd)
Driver 2: Chase Elliott $11,100 (Starts 8th)
Driver 3: Brad Keselowski $9,800 (Starts 5th)
Driver 4: Erik Jones $8,400 (Starts 24th)
Driver 5: Ryan Blaney $8,800 (Starts 12th)
Good luck this week!
